Sarah has been a keen birder from childhood and hoped to be the next Gerald Durrell, much to her parents' horror. Fortunately she discovered photography and prefers to collect images rather than live specimens these days. She is especially intrigued by extreme habitats, especially the sub-arctic and also undertakes research for the British Trust for Ornithology.

Along with her passion for photography and wildlife, Sarah has a busy life flying as a commercial airline pilot; competing in gliding competitions at National level; and long-distance yachting with her husband (together with their two children, they have sailed across the Atlantic, which they did as part of an inaugural Panerai Transat Classique ocean race from Cascais, Portugal to the West Indies.
